RETAIL GIANT FRESH & EASY TO OPEN STORE IN ALPINE AT SITE OF FORMER DANIEL’S MARKET

February 1, 2012 (Alpine) –Fresh & Easy Neighborhood market, owned by British retail powerhouse Tesco, has announced plans to open an Alpine store at the site of the former Daniel’s Market. According to the San Diego Business Journal, Fresh & Easy has signed a 10-year lease to open a 22,015 square foot retail store in the Alpine Creek Town Center.

Fresh & Easy has built its brand around providing both convenience and freshness, as well as self-checkout to keep prices affordable. Parent company Tesco, one of the largest retailers in Britain, created the Fresh & Easy brand after studying the U.S. marketplace. Since opening its first store in 2006, Fresh & Easy has grown to some 150 locations in three states, including 16 in San Diego County.

Although the chain is foreign-owned, in the produce department, 65% of fresh fruits and vegetables are locally grown. Other products are a mix of important and U.S. brands. READ MORE…..

Gary – that is strange that there is nothing for Alpine Listed yet. I just checked today and there is still NOTHING. I spoke with the leasing agent for the Alpine Creek Center and she didnt even have an opening date yet. If you look in the windows, The store looks pretty much ready to open – all they need is to stock inventory?

I spoke to the leasing agent for the building and they said that they are supposed to open some time in August but she didnt have a date yet either. I am still trying to get a hold of someone at Fresh & Easy so I can ask them if they can post when they will be hiring

Any new word on the opening date for F&E? I went up there and it looks like it is coming along. Building was open and no one around to ask. No signs indicating who will be in there.

Hi Ivan – I do not have any information at this point on who to contact for hiring with Fresh & Easy – I think you may have to contact their corporate offices to get that info.
