The fire that broke out in Alpine today was in the 800 block of Alpine Blvd and Alpine Fire Dept and Cal Fire say that the fire is OUT and was contained to 1/2 Acre with no structure damage. The fire was located on the south side of the Freeway (eastbound) across from the Casino Inn. There were multiple ignition locations, which lead me to believe it may have been started by sparks from a car on the freeway, but this is just a guess at this point. I am sure that the will be investigating the cause.
I would also like to offer my sincerest apologies to all my email subscribers and visitors to the website for NOT sending out an email or posting on the website when the fire broke out. I am on vacation in Arizona and was in a grocery store of all places when the fire broke out. It is very difficult to access my website or contstant contact from my cell phone, so the best I could do until i could get back to my computer was send out a TWITTER alert and post on Facebook when i was first notified of the fire breaking out. This is why i strongly encourage everyone to follow the Alpine Community Network on Twitter – it is the most reliable method of communication in an emergency and it comes to you as a text to your phone! I really need to get an Ipad, which would be extremely useful in situations like this! It will definitely be on my Christmas list!

Thank you shirley! Out really bugged me through that of all the times for a fire to break out, I couldn’t do anything I needed to and I know how many people rely on the network. But I will get that ipad soon and this won’t happen again hopefully! Or….I just need to clone myself!!
Angie,
Your on vacation, enjoy every minute of it!
But I must say, when I kept hearing fire planes continually, I immediately went to your network.
Can’t depend on the TV news, I have tried unsuccessfully to have our local TV stations use a ticker tape to let the public know when and where a fire breaks out.
Enjoy your time off Ang, we townsfolk are holding down the fort!
