August 12, 2016 – FOUND TOUCAN IN ALPINE? YESSSSSSSSSS! This guy has been spotted for 3 days now! Please share! ITS REALLY A TOUCAN! Someone spotted him flying across Tavern Rd a few days ago and yesterday he was seen again off of Tavern Rd. and South Grade. When I posted about this on our FACEBOOK PAGE https://www.facebook.com/AlpineCommunityNetwork/ Many comments were made that a Toucan has also been seen in Japatul Valley, Crown Hills, Off of Midway Drive in Alpine and Blossom Valley and Spring Valley. It is unknown if these were all the same Toucan but it is likely that it was. People thought they were seeing things, but it really is a Toucan and one Alpine resident was able to capture these pictures of him! Many people on our Facebook page has shared this post with bird rescue groups and
Laurie Burch Conrad left this comment on Facebook, “I work in the Bird Department at Sea World and live in Alpine. There are San Diego Zoo Bird employees that live in Alpine too. We are happy to assist if the bird is spotted again. You can text 619-993 4848 if the bird is seen and we can send people out. Laurie Conrad – Assistant Curator of Birds Sea world.
