Alpine Library Calendar of Free Events – February 2019

Library events LogoHello everyone, happy February! With all the rain we’ve been getting lately, this month is a good time to bring some color into your life with art! On 2nd and 4th Fridays at 10 am, we offer a free watercolor painting class for ages 16 and up, taught by local artist Julie Villanueva. All levels are welcome, and all supplies are provided!

With a nod to Julia Child’s quote about cooking, Julie says: “Learn how to watercolor paint.  Try new techniques. Learn from your mistakes. Be fearless, and above all…Have Fun!”

Also this month, we are partnering with San Diego Museum Council to offer half-price passes to over 40 museums! Whether you love art, music, gardens, cars, trains or even surfing, there is a museum or attraction for you. You can visit a wide variety of local museums, including the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, the California Center for the Arts Escondido museum, the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista and the USS Midway Museum, to name a few. The discount pass is good for up to four people and the same pass can be used to visit each of the participating museums at least once. The passes will be available starting today and are valid the whole month of February. Some museums may have fees for special exhibits or programs. You can pick up Museum Month passes at other local libraries, as well as the County’s. Stop by the front desk to get yours today!
