Boulder Oaks Community Park Gets a New Native Plant Pollinator Garden and “Free Little Library” – March 2019

March 26, 2019

Boulder Oaks Community Park gets a new native plant pollinator garden and a free library box all in one month!

30 native plants were donated by BCLT through our Living Classroom program, and we partnered with AEF through their Wheel of Experts to teach students how to plant native trees and wildflowers.

Next up, the JMMS Builder’s Club is dedicating their free little library on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10am. Free books for kids K-5, and a nice little resource for Alpine.

This is what we can do when the community works together on our public parks and open spaces!

Michael – you seem to be mistaken. These plants were planted by students on land owned by AUSD, with permission from both the principal at BOES and the head of maintenance for the school district. BCLT has donated plants to beautify our community park, and is doing all the watering, weeding, and maintenance to help save AUSD money. What is not to like about our local parks getting free plants?

So, this park is owned by the County and managed by AUSD. From whom did BCLT get permission to plant on it? Can this area of the park still be used for picnics, dog walking, games, etc. or is it now “off limits” activity? Why didn’t this school activity happen on AUSD property vice on County/public property?
