The Steele Canyon Players & Orchestra Presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” – December 11-15, 2019

Our theatre director, Nicole LaBella, is an Alpine resident and several SCHS students from Alpine have lead roles!

The Steele Canyon High School Drama Department and Instrumental Music Department announce their production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Show dates are Wednesday through Saturday, December 11, 12, 13 & 14, 2019 at 7pm with a matinee performance on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 2pm.  All performances are in the Steele Canyon High School Theatre, 12440 Campo Road, Spring Valley. Tickets for all performances are $10 each and may be purchased in advance online at or for $15 at the box office on the day of performances.

As one of Shakespeare’s most popular romantic comedies, this play interweaves reality and magic, love and hate, chaos and order. Three distinct worlds are the focus: The Athenians, The Fairies and The Players. Chaos and comedy ensue when they all cross paths. This play has it all: angry parents, rebellious teens, eloping young lovers, unrequited love, a natural world asunder, mischievous fairies, magical potions, mistaken identities, struggling young actors, wedding revelries, and an ass. Contrary to Shakespeare’s original, this production takes place during modern times in the Mediterranean region. The addition of ethereal dances and orchestral accompaniment augment this “dream-like” play.
