Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor Memorial Day celebration

May 28, 2012, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This Memorial Day the Alpine Community invites everyone to attend a Memorial Day Celebration on May 28, 2012, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a community celebration of the Veterans Wall of Honor at the Alpine Community Center Park – home of the Veterans Wall of Honor.

Mission Honored: A Dream Achieved is the goal the Alpine Community celebrated last year on Memorial Day with more than 1,000 dignitaries, veterans and their families and community members in attendance. Thanks to many donations and the unparalleled leadership of County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, and the Alpine VFW Post 9578, the Veterans Wall of Honor has more than 362 tiles dedicated to honor any Veteran, past or present, who served our country to protect our freedom and sustain the American way of life.

Come and enjoy a festival built around fun and celebration perfect for families to spend their day. Dance to the rhythm & blues band Rhythm Jacks. Enjoy an All American Meal Deal – a grilled burger or hot dog with chips, drink and slice of apple pie, as well as traditional treats such as cotton candy and ice cream. There will a dunk tank for some of the locals to cool off in and inflatable jumpers for children.

Local dignitaries will attend, the Alpine VFW Post 9578 will provide a color guard, and there will be a continuous reading of every name on the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor throughout the day.
