“Live Your Dream” $1500 Cash Award for LOCAL WOMEN WAGE EARNERS – Apply TODAY!

The SIA Live Your Dream $1500 Cash Award application deadline is less than one month away. We would love to give a few local women a chance for a new beginning!

live your dream

The Live Your Dream Award is Soroptimist International of Alpine’s major program. The award provides women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families with the financial resources to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. The award can be used for tuition, books, childcare, carfare or any other education-related expense.

live your dream photoWhile the $1500 cash award is incredibly helpful, Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award recipients say that confidence and support they receive is equally meaningful.

As a global organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment, Soroptimist believes in helping women to live their dreams by providing them with the resources they need to change their lives.

We also believe that when you help a woman, you also help her family, the community, and the world. Despite the enormous progress that women have made, they still suffer disproportionately from poverty, illiteracy, violence and discrimination. As women, we feel uniquely qualified to reach out to women the world over.

Maybe you know a woman who might be deserving of a Live Your Dream Award. Or maybe you work for an agency or a college whose constituents would be interested in this program.

I urge you to contact us or to send these women our way. Contact Linda Evans , Alpine Soroptimist Live Your Dream Chair,  levans@cox.net,  for an applications or more information go to sialpine.orgApplications are due by November 15th, 2018.

Monetary & Goodie Bag Donations Sought for Home Delivered Thanksgiving Meals for Seniors

Dear Alpine Community Center Members,

The Alpine Community Center has been serving Thanksgiving meals to local seniors for 21 years! In the past we have had financial support from Aging and Independence Services; that help no longer exists. The purpose of this letter is to ask our community for assistance to feed those in need right here in Alpine.

We have a team of volunteers who assemble the meals and deliver them to the homes of seniors. The meal consists of: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, green bean casserole, fruit salad, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. We also put together “goodie” bags which contain tokens from our local Alpine businesses.

Please help us with a donation to support his program! We can use monetary donations, and/or things to go in our goodie bags. Your donation is tax deductible and we will provide you with a tax receipt. The senior citizens of Alpine will benefit greatly and will be very appreciative.

Fore more info please contact Cindi Robertson, Operations Manager at 619.445.7330 or email

Caring Hands – Local Special Forces Navy Families Need YOUR HELP with Huge Volunteer Project

Hello Alpine Residents!

Did you know over 842 MILLION people live without enough food? My name is Amber Curry and my husband and I as well as many other Special Forces Navy Families (3 being local to Alpine) are working on a Huge Volunteer Project for the month of October that we need your help with! We work with an organization that has a charity called Caring Hands. We take potatoes and dehydrate them and infuse them with much needed vitamins and minerals and they are shipped to 27 different countries around the world. We also go build schools, water wells, teach hygiene and so many other important things in these communities.

Our Founders have put a challenge out to our San Diego team! If we raise 6,000 servings of potato packs they will match those 6,000 servings to any local San Diego charity of our Teams Choice! AMAZING!!! For ONE donation we can help the starving families overseas and help people in our own community!

We need your help with 2 things! LOTS of Donations and some names of your favorite charities that would put 6,000 servings to good use! Our team will be deciding on the charity in the next few days.

Please click on the link below to donate. There are 4 options available. Every donation makes a difference! 1 serving feeds a family of 5!

If Code is needed it is 3578825.

Thank you all for helping us with this community outreach program! Watch this video from our Tazmania Service Trip in 2018 https://youtu.be/wY5FMjM6Sb0

CHRISTIAN WORKERS NEEDED at Alpine Youth Center / Behold Ministry

October 8, 2018 – This past Friday there was 47 youth who came through the Alpine Youth Center.  We might have had four volunteer workers on that particular Friday.  Therefore, please pray for us and consider joining as a volunteer at the Alpine Youth Center.

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ, (Pastors, church members, group leaders, teachers, youth directors). I am writing to appeal to you in the mighty name of Jesus.   The Alpine Youth Center is in need of worker volunteers.  For the past three years, Behold Christian Ministry has had new leadership and the gospel is our primary focus in reaching youth for Jesus.   By God’s abundant grace, we are providing a place for the youth of Alpine to reside after school four days a week (M, Tu, Th, Fri) from 2:30 to 6:30.   We desperately need worker volunteers who hold firmly to a Christian worldview.

My appeal is that Christians would join our volunteer team.   Interested folks may contact me directly to discuss hours and what the role of volunteer worker looks like.  It is not as though volunteers have to have many creative ideas, and know how to keep teen youth occupied; the majority of youth hang-out in the safety of AYC, and engage one another.  Most are, and we pray for all to be, open to hearing about gospel application.   We need folks to supervise and curb any inappropriate behaviors in a firm but loving fashion. Moreover, should volunteers have a gift to teach, do one on one, lead a group, do arts and crafts, teach an instrument, etc., we invite gifting from the body of Christ to reach both professing Christian youth and those who need to experience the gospel.
