The Alpine Community Church Accepting Monetary Donations & Clothing to Help Migrant Families in Mexico

January 2019

Please Help Migrant Families in Mexico

More than 40 migrant men, women and children are temporarily sheltered at the Albergue Camino de Salvacion church in Tijuana, Mexico. The church is providing them a safe refuge as well as food, water, and electricity, but the migrants need new socks and underwear and the church needs donations to pay for food and utilities.

Please make a donation to help these families. The Alpine Community Church is accepting monetary donations of and new socks and underwear for men, women and children of all sizes. These donations will be delivered to the Community Congregational Church, UCC, in Chula Vista where Tijuana pastor Jose Antonio Altamirano will pick up the donated items.

There is no arrangement for on-line giving, but you can bring money, socks and underwear to the Alpine Community Church Office, located at 2225 W. Victoria Drive, in Alpine, on Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to noon, or you can make an appointment by calling the church office 619-445-2110, or call Tom at 619-885-8063.

Checks should be made payable to “Community Congregational Church” with “Migrant Mission” on the memo line.

Cash may be donated in a sealed envelope with the words “Migrant Mission” on the face.  This program will continue until the end of May. Please help if you can.

Alpine Church of Spiritual Living 30 Year Anniversary Celebration – November 11, 2018

Alpine Church of Spiritual Living is celebrating its 30 Year Anniversary! Come join our Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Thirty years ago, the Alpine Church of Spiritual Living, or ACSL, planted its roots in Alpine. The founding minister was Rev. Pauline Beauregard. She received “seed money” from Christ Church Unity of San Diego when Rev. Robert L. Stevens was minister.

Unable to find a suitable home for a church, Rev. Pauline opened a bookstore in the Alpine Creek Town Center. The bookstore sold books on metaphysics and other topics and held classes on spirituality in the evenings. Rev. Pauline operated the bookstore for four years and then left to accomplish other ministerial pursuits. The proceeds from the sale of the bookstore were given to a small group, which included Lois Cowan, Ann Eidsmore, Mary Anne Herlihy, Pat Heyser and Jean Tharp.

This core group of ladies possessed the vision and determination to start Sunday services in Alpine. The first service was held in the original Community Center building in March 1992. Rev. Arthur Hammons of Christ Church Unity in
El Cajon officiated. In the years that have followed there have been four different Unity and Religious Science ministers.

Rev. Gay Beauregard

The fifth and current minister, Rev. Gay Beauregard, has been the Senior Minister of the Alpine Church of Spiritual Living since July 2002.

During her tenure as minister, Rev. Gay has been deeply committed to our East County Communities. The day after the Cedar Fires of 2003, she wanted to send a message of encouragement to Alpine by writing a “Thought for the Week”, which has been continually published in the Alpine Sun newspaper, and is now also posted in the Alpine Community Network each and every week. It was under her direction that the church began an outreach ministry to visit and sing with the folks at the Alpine View Lodge. The church also supports other local events and has participated in the Viejas Days Parade and Christmas Toy Drive.

Recently the church was given the opportunity to rent space at Alpine Community Church. Sunday services are offered in Fuller Hall, at 2225 West Victoria Drive. In addition, fun gatherings such as mindfulness meditation, drum circle meditation, a metaphysical book club and spiritual education are offered throughout the week.

ACSL’s Mission Statement is to:
“Joyfully inspire everyone on all spiritual paths to be Love in action.” And our Motto is: Live – Love – Grow. We Live the Life we Love and We Grow in our Love for Life. Per the founder of Religious Science, Ernest Holmes: “The philosophy of Religious Science is nothing new to the world. It is rather a synthesis of the greatest concepts that have ever come to the mind of humankind. The laws of Moses, the love of Christ, the ethics of the Buddha, the morals of Confucius and the deep spiritual realization of the Hindus all find an exalted place in the philosophy of Religious Science”

We warmly invite our Alpine neighbors to come join us Sunday, November 11th for our 30th Anniversary Celebration. Alpine Church of Spiritual Living is located at Fuller Hall, 2225 – West Victoria Drive, Alpine, CA 91901. For more information go to the Events page of our website HERE

CHRISTIAN WORKERS NEEDED at Alpine Youth Center / Behold Ministry

October 8, 2018 – This past Friday there was 47 youth who came through the Alpine Youth Center.  We might have had four volunteer workers on that particular Friday.  Therefore, please pray for us and consider joining as a volunteer at the Alpine Youth Center.

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ, (Pastors, church members, group leaders, teachers, youth directors). I am writing to appeal to you in the mighty name of Jesus.   The Alpine Youth Center is in need of worker volunteers.  For the past three years, Behold Christian Ministry has had new leadership and the gospel is our primary focus in reaching youth for Jesus.   By God’s abundant grace, we are providing a place for the youth of Alpine to reside after school four days a week (M, Tu, Th, Fri) from 2:30 to 6:30.   We desperately need worker volunteers who hold firmly to a Christian worldview.

My appeal is that Christians would join our volunteer team.   Interested folks may contact me directly to discuss hours and what the role of volunteer worker looks like.  It is not as though volunteers have to have many creative ideas, and know how to keep teen youth occupied; the majority of youth hang-out in the safety of AYC, and engage one another.  Most are, and we pray for all to be, open to hearing about gospel application.   We need folks to supervise and curb any inappropriate behaviors in a firm but loving fashion. Moreover, should volunteers have a gift to teach, do one on one, lead a group, do arts and crafts, teach an instrument, etc., we invite gifting from the body of Christ to reach both professing Christian youth and those who need to experience the gospel.
