A Party is coming and the entire community is invited! On Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 12pm to 3:30pm, the Alpine Community Church is celebrating 125 years of service to the community by opening its doors and having a community carnival for ALL CITIZENS OF ALPINE! We will be giving out popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones and free lunch. We will provide carnival games with prizes!  All can try to win a free cake at the cakewalk!  We will have music and our Sunday school will be involved. A free face painter will also delight the kids!  The Guild will have a bake sale and there will be Opportunity Drawings for great baskets of goodies as well as silent auctions for a donated Thomas Kincaid painting and a beautiful handmade quilt!  A free bounce house and dunk tank will be provided!  There will be free game booths with carnival rings and bean bags to name a few, as well as games of old such as taking a guess at how many marbles are in a jar, and a jump rope competition. Plus much more, so bring your family and friends to the Alpine Community Church 125th Anniversary Celebration Carnival at 2225 W. Victoria Dr., Alpine.

The church first began when a handful of worshipers gathered in each other’s homes. They were accepted as a home mission church by the Congregationalists in 1894 and have grown from farmhouse parlors and eventually to their beautiful sanctuary on West Victoria. The committee, pictured above, including Ken Colman, Pastor, Sandra Lusink, Cheryl Worland, chair, Jef Ferris, Bonnie Moffett, Tom & Judy Myers, and Donna Boyer, is presently planning a carnival from 12- 3:30 p.m., which includes face painting, free games, a dunk tank, bounce house and more! The anniversary celebration is being held as an outreach to the Alpine Community. All are welcome to participate in the games and activities, a free hot dog, chips and soda from the Kiwanis Cook shack, and stay for the afternoon. Happy Birthday!!! Interactive Workshop “Prayers of the Cosmos” at Alpine Church of Spiritual Living – June 15, 2019

Rev. Ute Maria Cedilla invites you to celebrate Our Cosmic Father on SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2019 from 10am – 3pm at Alpine Church of Spiritual Living (2225 W. Victoria Drive. Alpine, CA  91901). Potluck lunch $35.

Treat yourself to a powerful inter-active workshop by exploring the depths of the Aramaic Lord’s Prayer. Learn how to speak and chant the very words spoken so long ago by the Master Teacher, Jesus.  Rev. Ute Maria Cedilla learned the prayer from Neil Douglas-Klotz, who offers radical new and expanded translations of the words of Jesus. In his book, Prayers of the Cosmos. Jesus’ mother tongue was Aramaic, a Middle Eastern, Semitic language that was then common to the entire population of Palestine. Aramaic is very close to Hebrew.  Because we live in a world of vibration, sound directly affects both our physical cells and our inner being. Sound changes the way we breathe, thereby changing the way we feel our connection, through breath, to Spirit and to all that is.

The Rev. Ute Maria Cedilla is a Religious Science and Interfaith minister and certified affiliate at the Emerson New Thought Center, Church without walls.  She is a member of the Affiliated New Thought Network. Ute Maria facilitates two conscious conversation circles in the Midwest. utemaria@highwatch.org

25th Annual Alpine Community Church Rummage Sale – May 10 & 11, 2019

Come shop around and find hidden treasures at Alpine Community Church’s 25th Annual RUMMAGE SALE – East County’s Biggest and Best Rummage Sale EVER! Friday, May 10, 2019 & Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 8am to 3pm at Alpine Community Church (2225 W. Victoria Drive) There will be tons of clothing, toys, kitchenware, linens, jewelry, crafts, shoes, furniture, books, videos, CDs, sporting goods, tools, yard equipment, and MORE! All with great low prices! This sale has a reputation for being the cleanest, most organized rummage sale in the county and draws shoppers from the entire San Diego region.

Church members as well as local Alpine residents save their gently used items and donate to the church, which has been collecting items for the last few months. Starting the week of May 6, members volunteer to inspect, sort and clean all items that have been donated.  All electric items are tested to make sure they are in working order.  Alpine Kiwanis Club members come on Thursday morning and install their tents in the parking lot at 2225 W. Victoria, across from the Women’s Club, and church volunteers then move all items out and organize them for the sale that begins at 8am on Friday morning.

Many Alpine residents look forward to this Rummage Sale, because of the bargains that await them.  Organizer Donna Boyer states, “We begin pricing items early in the week.  Prices are set low – the goal is to sell all that we have collected and we set prices so items will sell quickly”.  Trustee Vern Sonksen explains, “The Rummage Sale is our biggest fundraiser of the year.  While the money helps the church budget, we also hope that it will benefit the Alpine community.”

Members of the church are also available to pick up any items that people in the community would like to donate.  The church does not accept used computer equipment, old console televisions, nor do they accept used recliners.  According to Sonksen, “these items don’t sell and are very difficult for us to move around on sale days.”

Donations are welcome! For more information call 619-445-2110 or visit our website at alpinecommunitychurch.com.  For pickups, call Tom at 619-885-8063.
