Thought for the Week – “What is Freedom?” By Rev. Gay Beauregard

Thought for the Week (07/2/17 – What is Freedom?) – By Rev. Gay Beauregard, Alpine Church of Spiritual Living

As we approach our 4th of July Holiday where we celebrate the birth of our nation, the topic of freedom comes forth in our awareness.  Our nation desired freedom from the mother country, England, and proceeded to declare that freedom with intent and action.  To experience freedom in our own lives, we too must declare it with intent and action.  The freedom to which I refer is a God given quality that each of us possesses at every moment of every day.  Being free and experiencing it can be two different things however.  Like every other God quality we all possess such as love, joy, harmony, oneness, peace, wholeness, abundance, etc., we are at choice to actually bring them into the living of our lives.  How do we live in freedom?  Live in the moment.  Live in the moment – one moment at a time.  When our mind wanders to the past or skips ahead to the future we are missing the most (and only) point of life there is – the eternal now.  When we settle into the eternal now moment there are no restrictions, worries or cares.  Our life is being lived by the eternal God energy where all is well and we are truly free.  Say with me:  “My life is the life of God being lived in my own perfect, unique way.  I now recognize and accept my God given eternal freedom that simply awaits my recognition and acceptance of it.  This moment is whole, perfect and complete and I am ever so grateful and joyous to experience it.  And so it is.”
