Bring in your own recycled container to create your own succulent planter. Class starts at 10 a.m. with Coffee and breakfast and a short tutorial. Followed by creating your own unique succulent combination planter.

Price starts at $25.00 depending on the size and scale of your planter.

This program has turned out to be one of our favorites! –  It has morphed into a popular inter-generational program with all ages and all skill levels coming together weekly for an enjoyable Wednesday afternoon. “Freedom to Paint” & “Sand Sculpture 101” Class / Workshop at Alpine Skies Studio – February 25, 2017

This will be a TWO FOR ONE EVENT!  We’re excited to offer “Freedom to Paint!” by guest artist Kathy Williams along with Sand Sculpture 101 on Feb. 25th, 2017 at  Alpine Skies Studio (1724 Casa De Roca Way, Alpine, CA 91901)  Both for the low price of just $67*!  If you are a member of the Alpine Art league you receive a 50% discount on the event! The profits from the painting workshop will be donated to the Saint Jude Tuition Fund to help keep refugee women in community in college in their country of residence.

“Sand Sculpture 101”: Dave Henderson is a Master Sand Sculptor, 2 time World Sand Sculpture Champion and Professional Sand Sculptor. He will be teaching a workshop on the fastest, easiest and cheapest sculpting medium there is, SAND!   Sand Sculpture 101 will show you how to take your idea or concept and make it 3D!  In a medium that cost literally pennies to use.  He will also discuss how to make your work permanent and how working in sand speeds up the sculpting process with whatever your final medium will be… Click HERE for more info.

For those who always wanted to paint, but didn’t know how to start.  We’ll start with a few basics using oil paints or acrylics (student’s choice), and will explore color and technique.  No drawing skills required, and no previous experience necessary.  Canvas, paints, gloves, and brushes are available for $10 if you don’t have your own.  Come with ideas, or with no ideas.  We’ll have fun and will create something uniquely yours.

Bring a sack lunch for our mid-day break

The EASIEST, CHEAPEST and MOST EXCITING of mediums, this workshop will focus on the basics of sand sculpture from sand choice and preparation, subject matter, project composition/size/scale, and sculpting techniques.  NO PRIOR SCULPTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.  Just a passion and willingness to learn!

This magical and serene ranch-style retreat, with its 20 acres of terrain, is a safe haven to over 70 domesticated livestock from around the world.

The retreat is specifically designed to help children develop a sense of wonder for nature and its inhabitants through unstructured exploration and learning. To create a fun and teachable environment for the children, there are separate areas where the animals reside, reflecting different worlds in the animal kingdom.

Children have an opportunity to see, up-close, the lives of these great animals as they roam in their habitat. There are interactive enrichment presentations throughout the day so everyone may learn more about the animals, nature and sustainable farming while visiting the retreat.

This exciting and exclusive three-hour private tour of the Children’s Nature Retreat is limited up to five guests per group to ensure an intimate experience and positive interaction for our animals. Do You love to cook or just want to improve your cooking? Join the Culinary Literacy Program (CLP)! *This program is for ADULTS
What to do: Sign up for the program at the library and check out a cookbook for this month’s theme. Create a main dish at home then join us for the monthly group discussion. Bring a small sample for the group to taste and the cookbook you used to each meeting. CLP meets the first Saturday of each month at 3 pm. Theme for November 5: 5 Ingredients or Less. Theme for December 3: Crockpot Dinners. The Alpine Library is located at  1752 Alpine Blvd, Alpine, CA 91901. Learn How to Make a Succulent Topiary at the Alpine Garden Club Meeting – October 13, 2016

succulent-topiaryAlpine Garden Club is meeting Thursday, October 13th at 5:45 p.m. at the Alpine Library. Social time 5:45 p.m., 6:15 business meeting and at 6:30 our own Bob Rhoads will demonstrate how to combine floral design, succulents and crafts all rolled into one.

Bob will be crafting a soil-less flower arrangement (topiary) with succulents that can be uses as a table centerpiece, design accent, or on a patio and will last moths with very little care. All material ca be acquired for less than $10.00 and with little effort will have crafted a topiary that a florist would sell for $50-$75 dollars.
