AEF “LIVING CLASSROOM” Kids Summer Camp – August 7 & 8, 2017

AEF (Alpine Education Foundation) is offering an additional late Summer Camp for Elementary School Kids.”Living Classroom” 2-Day Camp – August 7 & 8, 2017. Register NOW!

DAY 1: Guided Hike at Wright’s Field in Alpine – Monday, August 7, 8:30am – 12pm
DAY 2: Classroom Learning/Activities/Project – Tuseday, August 8, 2017, 8:30am – 12pm

This new summer program offering will focus on environmental education, exploring the outdoors, and hands-on, experiential learning at our community-owned nature preserve, Wright’s Field in Alpine. Trained educators from the Back Country Land Trust will lead students through planned
curriculum activities and guided interpretive walks. Through this program students will participate in a variety of learning activities centered on scientific thinking and observation, storytelling and cultural learning, and exploring our local history here in Alpine. Hiking and outdoor exploration will be a main component also, one where we’ll explore our local flora and fauna – and hopefully see some wildlife in their native habitats! One hour of the program will be devoted to hands-on service-learning projects where students will participate in volunteer stewardship activities (available for
school credit) and will assist BCLT staff in restoring native habitats on the preserve.

AEF Sports SUMMER CAMP for Elementary School Kids – July 31-August 4, 2017

AEF (Alpine Education Foundation) is offering an additional late Summer Camp for Elementary School Kids “READY BREAK COED SPORTS & PE CAMP” July 31 – August 4, 2017. Mom – Fri (8:30pm – 12pm) Elementary students will develop, refine and master motor skills and movement patterns as they relate to flag football and softball. Students will also compete and test skills through obstacle courses. Students will make friends, find strengths and develop confidence. This camp will take place at Alpine Elementary School and the Camp Instructors will be Mrs. Valade and Coach Andreoli. Open to 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th Graders, the camp cost is $60/student. With the wonderful support of the Alpine Community Network, Alpine Education Foundation has offered 5 Ready Break Camps this summer, hosted at Alpine schools and conducted by professional teachers and instructors.  The programs are intended to provide an enrichment to the normal school curriculum and include two different Arts programs, an elementary and a middle school PE/Sports program, and a Robotics-Coding Camp.  Nearly 110 registrations have been received.  The PE/Sports programs received a lot of registrations, with one being over-subscribed.

The Back Country Land Trust’s “Living Classroom” program for three East County school districts earlier in the year was also well received with 500 kids attending over the past semester.


Ladies Night Essential Oils Class at the Blue Poppy – July 26, 2017

Learn to Build the BEST BURGER at the Weber Grilling Academy at Barons Market – July 16, 2017

BBQ Masters to Teach 90 Rookies How to Build the Best Burger! Barons Market parking lot to become FREE burger-building workshop on Sunday, July 16 with classes at noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The smell of barbeque, sound of sizzling burgers and taste of top-notch ingredients will consume the Barons Market parking lot as barbeque experts teach 90 grilling rookies how to build a better burger.

The pop-up workshop, hosted by Weber Grilling Academy, rolls through to teach basic grilling techniques using affordable and high-quality ingredients found in the aisles of Barons Market.

Traditional Hunter Safety Course at the Alpine VFW – July 15, 2017

The VFW Post in Alpine is Hosting a Hunter Education course “Learn to Hunt the Right Way”, for first hunters, those returning to the sport or anyone interested on July 15, 2017 from 8am to 6pm.
