Local Teen Trevor Barnes Story and Suicide Prevention Awareness 5k Run-Walk – January 11, 2020

We’d like to introduce ourselves, and tell you our story.

We are Dan and Mona Barnes and have been residents of Alpine for the last 23 years, raising our only child in this hometown.

On the morning of January 6, 2018, our lives would change forever. Our son Trevor took his own life.

For those of you who didn’t know Trevor, he had a big personality and would tease you at ever chance. He was funny and full of life. He loved baseball, playing video games and spending time with his friends. Unfortunately, Trevor also struggled with sports injuries throughout high school and found it difficult to cope with the possibility he may not be able to continue the sport he loved so much. These teenage stresses, combined with severe depression, resulted in suicide. He is gone forever and we miss him terribly every day.

Almost two years have passed now, but the support of our community has not waned. The love and compassion that has been bestowed upon us cannot be measured and we will never be able to repay the love and kindness of family, friends and even strangers who have supported us through it all.

To honor our son and to help prevent this from ever happening to another family, we started Team TB11. Our Mission and Vision is to promote optimal mental health through advocacy, education and support.

We would love your support and we are here to support you!

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram, as we are always sharing helpful information about suicide prevention and mental health awareness. You can follow us @Teamtb11.

We would also like to invite everyone out to our Inaugural Trevor Barnes Memorial 5K on January 11, 2020 from 7:30am to 11am (Rain or shine!) at Lakeside Baseball Park (Lakeside National L.L.) 10030 Marathon Parkway, Lakeside, Ca. 92040. Registration is now open. Please join us! Together we can make a difference. You can find all the info HERE

God💚Bless – Dan and Mona Barnes
