Alpine Education Foundation Annual SPRING GALA Event to Support Alpine Schools – April 6, 2019

Alpine Education Foundation is hosting its annual Spring Gala at the Oak Ballroom at Viejas on April 6, 2019.  Food (dazzling sliders & superb cheeses this year), music, dancing, live & silent auctions.  All proceeds go to two worthy programs supporting Alpine’s schools; Block Grants and for the Wheel of Experts S.T.E.A.M. instruction program.   The Wheel of Experts is providing classes, assemblies and labs that enhance the state curriculum.  Each instruction session costs just $35 for 25 students – great value.  Please help make Alpine Union the Destination District of the East County! Kiwanis Easter Breakfast_KidsAlpine Kiwanis will host its 65th Annual Easter Breakfast on Sunday, April 21, 2019 from 7 to 11:30 am, at the Alpine Elementary School, 1850 Alpine Boulevard, in Alpine.

Youngsters can dye eggs, decorate cookies, hunt for plastic eggs filled with rewards and hang out with the Easter Bunny.

You’re invited to hop on over to enjoy pancakes, sausage, eggs and more—all while benefitting local charities and events sponsored by Kiwanis.

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is a major sponsor of this event and has a long tradition of sharing with the community as well as their brothers and sisters in Baja Norte. Their sponsorship of this Kiwanis event as well as others demonstrates that commitment to our community.

Tickets are available for a $6 donation for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. They can be purchased at the door on the day of the event or in advance from a Kiwanis member or at the Alpine Postal Annex. For more information, go to www.alpinekiwanis.org.

Alpine Kiwanis President Ray Sopfe said the annual Easter morning community tradition was started in 1954 by Carmelo Manuele, who was then the club’s president. Manuele joined the new foothills Kiwanis club in 1951, 13 days after it started. Always busy, the Kiwanis Club of Alpine is the third largest one in the California-Nevada-Hawaii Kiwanis district. Its 130+ members are known for their dedicated community service.

Barons Backroom Beer Pairing Featuring REFUGE BREWERY Benefits Alpine Schools – January 30, 2019

On Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 6-8pm, let’s help turn-out Alpine to help our schools. Barons Market will donate 100 percent of proceeds to local schools/PTA’s. The tickets cost just $15 per person for four different craft beers from Refuge Brewery along with great goodies.  100% of the revenue will be donated onward by Barons.

Barons’ Backroom Beer Pairings transform loading docks and stock rooms into food and local brew speakeasies. Friends will gather at their neighborhood store to sample beers from Refuge Brewery with gourmet bites made from the market’s selection of all-natural ingredients.

A select team of Barons taste experts and Refuge Brewery beer makers carefully curated an experience that is full of unparalleled flavor – and easy to replicate at home.

The mouthwatering menu for the January 30 event includes:

PARENTS NIGHT OUT at Shadow Hills Elementary School – November 9, 2018

Need something for the kiddos to do on Friday night? Bring them to Shadow Hills Elementary School Auditorium on Friday November 9, 2018 from 6pm to 9pm for a fun movie night and you can have date night!!!!! DOG HOUSE & BLANKET Donation Drive for DOGS in NEED in Our Back Country – November 2018

Last year over 23 dog houses were donated and distributed to dogs in need in our local mountains!

It’s that time again…cold and snowy in Boulevard, 30 miles east of Alpine in the mountains.  There are still many dogs that need dog houses and blankets to help them keep comfortable during these storms and even in the summer, to protect them from the heat.  If you have a dog house or blankets to donate, I will come and pick them up from you and distribute them as needed up here.  This is the 6th year I’ve done this.  You are helping so many dogs with your generous donations of houses and blankets.
