Olivia’s Bow Club is a Subscription Bow Club that is owned and operated by Lindsay (Brookshire) Darnelle – Lifelong resident of Alpine and the daughter of Angela & Ronald Brookshire (Owners and creators of the Alpine Community network).

Kylie Rowand, is a beautiful baby girl who lived in Alpine who changed our community FOREVER …. she battled Neuroblastoma cancer for 13 months before she passed away from the disease at the tender age of 2. Her parents Bree and Luke Rowand started The Kylie Rowand Foundation in her honor and have since raised more than $100,000 to benefit pediatric cancer and help families with children who have been impacted by the disease pay for their gas, groceries, mortgages and rent during cancer treatments. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and our September Bow Set has a mission. Kylie Rowand

Kylie is a gorgeous baby girl from our home town who was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma at a year old.

Her strong mama shared their journey online and Kylie soon gained a massive following of supporters while inspiring hundreds of thousands of people around the globe.

At 2 1/2 years old Kylie flew home to heaven and gained her angel wings.

Kylie’s legacy now lives on through the Kylie Rowand Foundation as she continues to inspire all of us to be brave, be strong, smile in the hardest times and….. love like Kylie.

PARTY OF THE DECADE! East County Fest at Mission Trails – August 25, 2018

East County fest celebrates the 10th anniversary of East County Magazine’s nonprofit community news and wildfire alerts

August 2, 2018 (San Diego) – The public is invited to “East County Fest” at Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 6-10 p.m. with VIP reception at 5:30 p.m. Festivities at  include delicious tastes from 16 local restaurants and wineries, live music, artists, authors, live painting, an auction and raffle, sunset views, stargazing with San Diego Astronomy Association and  a special best of East County” program.  Billed as the “party of the decade,” East County fest celebrates the 10th anniversary of East County Magazine’s nonprofit community news and wildfire alerts, benefitting these public interest programs of the nonprofit 501c3 Heartland Coalition.

Tickets:  Tickets  are on sale at www.eastcountymedia.org/events.  Early bird tickets before Aug. 12 cost $65 for East County Fest, or $85 for the fest plus VIP party. Tables for 8 are $480, or $680 with VIP party.  (After Aug. 12, all tickets will rise by $10.)

Food & Wine: Participating restaurants and wineries include Red Lobster, Farmer’s Table, Cucina Basilica, Por Favor, Giardino’s,  Lemon Grove Bakery, Café 67, Downtown Café,  Richard’s Honey, Granite Lion Cellars, San Pasqual Winery, Casi de Cielo Winery, Campo Creek Winery, Lenore Winery and more to come.

Artists: World-renown watercolor artist Chuck McPherson will provide live performance art with his painting included in our auction. His works have won  awards in over 100 juried art shows and been displayed worldwide. Our auction also includes works by award-winning wildfire artist Gloria Chadwick and wildlife photographer Debbie Merrill who will be displaying and selling her artwork.

Music & Entertainment: Live music includes award-winning fingerstyle guitarist Jim Earp, instrumental guitarist Miles Moynihan performing jazz, classical, and Nuevo Flamenco music, dancers from Visionary Dance Theatre, and Native American flute players.

Guest speaker: Richard Lederer, founding host of “A Way With Words on KPBS” and “Lederer on Language” columnist for the San Diego Union-Tribune, will speak and have copies of his books available; he has sold over a million copies of more than 40 books. His current books include The Gift of Age, A Tribute to Teachers, American Trivia, and Amazing Words.

West Fire Fundraiser at Alpine Beer Tasting Room & Pub – August 7 & 8, 2018

$3 of each pint will go to the Community Recovery Team for uninsured and underinsured fire victims.

West Fire Supply Post Donations Now Accepted for Survivors California Fires

Fire Supply Post donations are now being accepted for survivors of additional California fires – Plus WE HAVE MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION at Shadow Mountain Church – Alpine Campus located at 3520 Alpine Blvd. Alpine Ca 91901. Our Hours are Tues – Fri 11am to 6pm

Please continue to spread the word about the Fire Victim Supply Post! We here to Help those affected by the fires all over California and we are desperately needing donations!!

We are short on Gift cards, monetary donations, medical supplies, tents, emergency camping supply’s, sleeping bags, non perishable ready to eat foods (including MREs), water, Gatorade, collapsible chairs, tooth brushes, gloves, shovels, rakes, and children activities and more!

We still have many families in Alpine that are displaced and in need. Along with people in need from Orange County, Mendocino, Lake County, and Redding.

Alpine Jazzercise FIRE RELIEF DANCE PARTY Fundraiser for Lauren King – July 28, 2018

Mark your Calendars Ladies Saturday July 28, 2018 @ 9:30am for our Alpine Jazzercise Fire Relief Dance Party in Honor of our lovely “JazzersisterLauren King, who lost absolutely everything except the clothes on her and her Husbands back in the West Fire in Alpine on July 6. Her husband Ben only arrived in time to get their dog out of their home safety before it was turned completely to ash. At the party we are asking for everyone to donate $20 at the Door. Our hopes is to raise enough money to replace all of Lauren’s workout apparel so that she may join us all again on the Dance Floor at Jazzercise! The remainder will go towards her membership for the next year! We will sweat & smile in her honor! Please plan on joining us!! Please spread the word also share my post to get the word out so that we have the biggest turn out for her!

**NOTICE** VOLUNTEERS NEEDED at the West Fire Victim Supply Post!

We desperately need more volunteers over the weekend and Monday and Tuesday of next week to help prepare the donation items
We are still open and happy to help fire victims at Boulder Oaks Elementary School (2320 Tavern Rd.) . Whether you lost your home and need immediate supplies, you sustained severe smoke damage and need to replace items in your home, or even if you just lost power and need to restock your refrigerator, we have lots and lots of supplies. Please please please come and take what you need!
