To join the holiday cheer, head to one of Barons Market in Alpine (1347 Tavern Rd, Alpine, CA 91901) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 13, 2017. Tickets will sell out, so purchase yours for $15 today.

For its festive Backroom Beer Pairing on December 13, Barons Market will partner with Black Market Brewing Co. to bring a food-and-craft-beer speakeasy to the loading docks and stockrooms of all seven neighborhood markets.  To celebrate the season of giving and ensure everyone has a holiday meal, the family-owned market will donate 100 percent of proceeds from its four San Diego locations to the San Diego Food Bank. With its quarterly pairings, the market is on track to raise more than $20,000 in 2017 for local organizations fighting hunger and cancer.

“Our Backroom Beer Pairings allow people to drink and be merry while supporting organizations that keep bellies full and hearts happy during the holidays,” says Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing at Barons. “These events are our biggest opportunity to give back to the communities that we love.” The Barons Backroom Beer Pairings host jolly beer enthusiasts as they eat and mingle among stockrooms and loading docks. For the December pairing, an expert team from Barons and the Temecula-based Black Market Brewing carefully curated the merry menu for December 13:

  • Hefeweizen – A refreshing, unfiltered wheat beer that showcases a subtle fruit and spice character, paired with goat cheese and olive crostini.
  • New England Style “The Yellow Can” IPA – An IPA highlighting pineapple and tropical fruit flavors with resinous tones, paired with Tandoor Chef chicken samosas with Roland mango chutney.
  • Enemy Within w/Passion Fruit –  And IPA that balances the earthiness of exotic passion fruit with a blend of bright, citrusy hops, paired with ham, cranberry and brie sliders.
  • Tradecraft Sour/Watermelon Gose – A sour wheat ale with a perfect balance of sour and saltiness, complimented with fresh watermelon, paired with Barons white chicken chili with a dollop of crème fraiche, sprig of cilantro and Tacupeto chips.
