Looking for a Local Charity to Donate to? Consider Dream Rider Equestrian Therapy

daisy-maeIts winter and expenses are high and lessons fewer due to weather. We want to continue providing equestrian therapy and lessons to Alpine and East County children on our specially trained ponies.

Many potential children who can benefit cannot afford the cost of lessons. The fee $210 dollars donated will pay for a scholarship to a family in need for 6 weeks of lessons.

Also our ponies require special feed, blankets and our facility needs extra care during winter weather. We hope that the community will respond to the need in order to keep us going for another year.

Dream Rider Equestrian Therapy has been open now since 1999 and many children have learned to ride here as well as overcome severe disabilities on our reliable ponies. These ponies are hard to find and need to receive the best of care and training to be suitable for this special work. Over the years more than 35 men and woman have volunteered to help in lessons and training of our ponies!

dream rider lessons_girlVolunteers come from as far away as Campo or downtown San Diego to help out, but now we need money donated for scholarships, veterinary care, insurance for all our participants and membership fees for PATH International, the professional association of therapeutic horsemanship international, the organization that certifies us to be a safe and knowledgeable provider of therapeutic services for learning and physically disabled children.

We have a new facebook page made possible by the photographs and videos of our volunteer Adrienne Saldivar that display this year’s activities through the end of October at Halloween when we annually have costumed Halloween lessons where all get special treats including the ponies. To see these images go to our facebook page HERE.
